Counseling is a confidential process designed to help you address your concerns, come to a greater understanding of yourself, and learn effective personal and interpersonal coping strategies. It involves a relationship between you and a trained therapist who has the desire and willingness to help you accomplish your individual goals. Counseling involves sharing sensitive, personal, and private information that may at times be distressing. During the course of counseling, there may be periods of increased anxiety or confusion. The outcome of counseling is often positive; however, the level of satisfaction for any individual is not predictable. Our team is available to support you throughout the counseling process.

HOW ONLINE COUNSELING WORKS:
We offer appointments both over the phone and through video chat. Online counseling is accessible, convenient, fully HIPAA compliant and confidential. If you schedule a video chat appointment, you will receive a link by email that will grant you access to your appointment.

CONFIDENTIALITY:
All clinicians and interns working at The Mental Mediator are held to a high standard of confidentiality. This includes the content of your sessions, progress in counseling, and your records.

- EXCEPTIONS TO CONFIDENTIALITY:
- Each clinician reserves the right to consult a supervisor in the event they need assistance in providing you the best possible care. These consultations are for professional and training purposes.
- If there is evidence of clear and imminent danger of harm to self and/or others, we are legally required to report this information to the authorities responsible for ensuring safety.
- Law requires that if we learn of, or strongly suspect, physical/sexual abuse or neglect of any person we must report this information to law enforcement agency.
- A court order, issued by a judge, may require the Counselor to release information contained in records and/or require a therapist to testify in a court hearing. If requested by your attorney there will be the standard session rate applied that is NOT covered by your insurance, you are responsible for this fee.
- If we feel that you need to seek further medical attention, we will recommend that you seek treatment at your local medical facility.
- Consider self-pay in the event your insurance company requires your confidential records.

CANCELLATIONS AND FEES:
We appreciate prompt arrival for appointments.
Please notify your clinician via call or email if you will be late.
We require at least twenty-four hours notice for a cancellation, we DO charge a no show or late cancelation fee.
Counseling fees are charged per hour, some sessions may go over this hour in that case the hour will be charged by the half hour, unless otherwise agreed upon.

24 hour's notice is required for a reschedule or cancellation, the full hourly session rate will be charged for a no-show.

IN CASE OF SNOW or INCLEMENT WEATHER:
If school is cancelled, the office is closed. You will receive a call with further information about changing your appointment to a video/phone appointment or rescheduling. If school has not been cancelled but the roads seem dangerous, appointments will be changed to video/phone appointments or rescheduled. Everyone will receive a phone call! If you are scheduled for a video/phone appointment, the weather should not impact your appointment. If you need to cancel your video/phone appointment due to weather, please call or send a message letting us know. Stay safe and stay warm!
