New week, new blog post! Today, I wanted to discuss self-care since it is the new year and there's been a lot of buzz around self-care in recent years. When I first heard of self-care, like many people, I thought that it had to be a time where you just book the whole day to get a massage. I 'm here to tell you that you don't have to do that. Self-care can easily fit into your day and be done for very little money or free! Some activities that can be used for self-care are: ● Drinking a cup of tea, or favorite beverage. ● wearing your favorite clothes. ● Calling a friend ● Taking a walk, ● Making sure you get enough water in your system. ● Going outside when it's appropriate. Weather permitting. It's cold here at the moment! ● Meditation. ● Listening to your favorite music. Meditation. Meditation is another activity that before I actually started getting into it, I thought it had to be this hour-long process where you emptied your mind of all thoughts. Again, this is false. There are some great two-minute, five-minute, or even one-minute meditations you can find online to ground yourself and make your day even better! I will be sure to provide some links if you're interested! Getting enough rest, and eating enough / eating healthy whenever possible and making sure that we show up as our best selves, whether it's for work or for just doing leisure activities for ourselves. If we don't get enough rest, we can't function to our best ability. Self-care does not have to be big and scary, and you definitely don't have to buy things to make self-care work for you! There are things that we do every day that we may not even think are self-care, but are actually fueling our body and fueling our mental health.
